Biography - Jennifer Szemborski

I have been an educator for seventeen years at the elementary school level. In May of 2009, I graduated from Shepherd University with a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction. Currently, I teach reading and language arts to fifth graders in Jefferson County, WV.

My major was Elementary Education, and I earned a Bachelor's degree from Loyola University in Baltimore, MD back in 1994. I have taught in public schools ever since.

I hold teaching licenses in New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia for grades K-6. I have taught fourth and fifth grade. My favorite subject to teach is science. Integrating technology throughout the curriculum has become my specialty.

I serve as the school based technology coordinator and have written several grants that were awarded to my school. These grants have allowed my school to implement the 21st Century standards that West Virginia requires.

I have been married for 14 years to my husband, Ray, who served in the Persian Gulf War on the Battleship Wisconsin as a Gunners Mate. He was in charge of turret one. His ship launched the first Tomahawk Missile at the start of the war.

We have two beautiful little girls, Sabrina and Amaya. Both attend school in Jefferson County. They enjoy playing soccer.

I am thrilled to be working for APUS as an online professor. I especially enjoy meeting my students from all around the world because I learn a lot from them during the COLL 100 course.
