Biography - Andrew B. Fitzgerald


Barron Fitzgerald received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Management Science from SUNY Albany in 1970. This was his first contact with the concept of Project Management. After graduating college, he went to work for Bertrand Goldberg Associates. This was a major architectural firm located in Chicago that specialized in university health science and care facilities.

In 1977, he graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York with an MS in Management Engineering specializing in Health Care Systems. The program emphasized project management in both the industrial setting and health care environment.

After graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Barron joined IBM as an industrial Engineer. In this capacity, he was both a leader and a team member on several projects. He began full time project management in 1986.

In 2002, Barron received his second master’s in Computer Science and Information Systems from Marist College located in Poughkeepsie, New York.

In June, 2002, he received his Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute. His certification has been kept current.

In 2003, he left IBM to begin working as a full time project manager. Since then, he has been the Project Manager on several major Healthcare Projects.

In 2008, Barron extended his healtcare background through identity and IT access projects at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. Late in 2009, he accepted the IT Access and Identity Security Manager position at the College of Charleston.

Barron has substantial experience in successfully applying and developing Project Management tools and techniques, educating and mentoring other Project Managers and educating users on to use the tools created by the projects. He also has a tremendous background in MIS.
