Biography - Johnathan Parsons

Hello, my name is Johnathan Parsons. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Management from Colorado Christian University, a Master of Science in Space Studies from our very own American Military University, and a Master of Science in Information Systems Technology from the University of Phoenix. Currently I am working on my doctorate in Engineering Management from Walden University.

Professionally, I have worked in the aerospace industry for the past twelve years. I began my career in the US Air Force as a Satellite Systems Operator based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I worked on various aspects of the DSCS and NATO/SKYNET constellation in the Third Space Operations Squadron, on Schriever, AFB. From there, I took a position at the Smithsonian's Astrophysical Observatory in Cambridge, Massachusetts working on the Chandra X-Ray Observatory. It was a really interesting job working with X-ray astronomy. For the past 8 plus years, I have worked for The Boeing Company in Leesburg, Virginia as a Mission Director on the Iridium Satellite operations program before relocating to sunny Arizona to work Integration and Test. This has been a very rewarding and challenging program to work on. The Iridium constellation provides global communication through a network of 66 satellites from a low earth orbit (LEO). Although I have over a decade of satellite operations experience, there is so much more to learn and experience in this career field.
