International political and security consultant and AMU full-time Instructor.

Specialist ombudsman for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) with the World Bank Group (2003-2005) in Washington D.C., investigating social and environmental complaints by IFC project affected people.

Spokesperson for the United Nations Peace-Keeping Operations in Western Sahara (1999-2001), where he was actively engaged in UN activities in the region and developed relationships with key constituencies.

Political Affairs Officer with United Nations Peace-Keeping operations in Tajikistan and the Central African Republic (1997-1999).

Coordinator of international observers in 25 elections (Russia, Caucasus, Central Asia), and human rights advisor for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (1992-1997), Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in Warsaw, Poland.

Author of several academic articles, including Quicksand in the Western Sahara? From Referendum Stalemate to Negotiated Solution (International Negotiation, 2005), as well as policy brief and viewpoint for the Middle East Institute (Washington DC} and op eds in the Washington Times, Middle East Times and UPI, among others.
