Biography - Barry Walls


Prof Barry Walls received his Master of Arts in Business Administration from Strayer University. He is currently an Information Systems Program Manager for Coastal International Security. His management responsibilities include overseeing the company’s accounting and payroll database, reviewing business processes, providing on-going instruction as it relates to the company’s software applications and business processes for more than 2,000 employees, and maintaining the company’s website as well as the Employee Self-Service website.

Additionally, Prof Walls joined the APUS staff in February 2009 teaching American Government I as an Adjunct Professor, before being accepted as full-time faculty, 1 January, 2010. Prof Walls now teaches American Government I (POLS 210) as well as Public Administration (PADM 300) and Public Economic Issues (PADM 301).

Prior to this position, Prof Walls served as a contractor / consultant supporting Marine Corps Manpower Information Systems at Systems Command, Quantico, VA. Business services performed include risk analysis, budgeting preparation and execution, configuration management, security application development, and cost analysis for human resource-related software applications providing pay and personnel services for the entire U.S. Marine Corps.

Chief Warrant Officer-3 Walls retired in 2003 with more than 20 years of active service in the U.S. Marine Corps. His entire military career involved pay and personnel administration and inspections, specializing in pay and process analysis, with his last assignment being spent at Quantico VA, serving as Project Officer for the U.S. Marine Corps Pay and Personnel System. Tours of duty included South Carolina, North Carolina, Okinawa Japan, Texas, Hawaii, and Quantico VA.

Prof Walls’ hobbies include nearly thirty-five years of studying political science, Revolutionary-era American Government, following current public policy issues, investing, staying current on information technology, and, of course, golf!
