Biography - Kelly McMichael


Kelly McMichael was born in Texas in 1969 and grew up in Midlothian, a farming community 20 miles south of Dallas. She attended Texas A & M University, earning a BA in US History and English. She then completed a MA at Baylor University in American Studies and a PhD at the University of North Texas in US History. She has published two books on history in the last year, "Transforming the Humanities Classroom for the 21st Century Using Course Redesign to Enhance Student Success", Nevada, Bent Tree Press, 2008 and "Sacred Memories: A Guide to the Civil War Monuments of Texas", Texas, Texas State Historical Association Press, 2009.


Kelly is married and has two children, two dogs, and a cat. She likes to garden, walk/hike, read, and listen to live music. She likes to travel and is especially fond of Treasure Beach on Jamaica’s south coast.
