Biography - Tracy L Derks


Tracy Derks earned his B.S. in History from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX in 1996 and his M.A. in History from Sam Houston State University in 2005. His areas of emphasis during his graduate work were U.S. History, Military History, and Regional History. His Thesis, The Battle of Xa Cam My, is the only in-depth study of this pivotal battle during the Vietnam Conflict.

Since graduating, he has served as History faculty for the Lone Star College System, Houston Community College, and San Jacinto Community College. Additionally, Tracy is involved in researching the personal combat narratives of American soldiers. He has been published numerous times in general readership history magazines, and is currently working on a manuscript expanding on his Masters thesis.
