
Karen Sykes received her bachelor’s degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Business Administration and a minor in Japanese. She was very active on campus with prospective students, orientation, student government and international students. After graduation, she lived in Osaka, Japan for a year while teaching English as a second language. She returned to Nebraska and obtained her master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
She was the Associate Director in the International Student and Scholar Office at Towson University for eight years. During that time, she got involved in teaching a course on diversity as an adjunct faculty member.
Karen left her full-time position upon the arrival of her third child. She enjoys the flexibility of the online environment and the opportunity to help college students meet their academic goals without suffering through a long commute!
