Biography - Michelle L Wimberley


Dr. Wimberley received her B.S. in Athletic Training from the University of Tulsa in 1994. She completed her M.Ed. in Physical Education at East Tennessee State University in 1995. She was awarded her Ph.D. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Biomechanics from Texas Woman's University in 2003. The focus of her dissertation research was the effect of various arch support techniques on running gait. Other research areas are energy drinks,eating disorders in athletes, using pilates to improve overall health in women and improving triathlon performance with pilates.
Dr. Wimberley has served as an athletic trainer for high school, college and semi-professional sports teams. She was the clinical coordinator for the athletic training program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She also served in the US Army from 1996 - 1998.
Dr. Wimberley currently lives in Delaware with her husband and 2 children. Her husband is an officer in the US Army and has served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is currently the Professor of Military Science at the University of Delaware.She has 1 dog and 2 cats. She enjoys running, triathlons, pilates and is active in various organizations. She is a certified athletic trainer, ACSM HFI, USA Triathlon Level I Coach, Road Runners Club of America Certified Running Coach.
