
Dr. Barnes-Young earned a doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Akron and currently works as a rehabilitation psychologist at an acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Florence, South Carolina.
She especially enjoys teaching with APUS and looks forward to working with you. Her course announcements are designed with your success and learning in mind--they help you know exactly what to expect of yourself, the class, and the professor. Dr. Barnes-Young hopes to make your first experience with APUS online learning a very positive one!
Prior to returning to clinical work three years ago, Dr. B-Y was associate professor of psychology at Francis Marion University and Director of Advising and Retention. Prof. Barnes-Young has published and presented at international conferences in Hawaii and Ireland on topics as diverse as eye witness testimony and the transition to adulthood.
In her spare time, Dr. Barnes-Young enjoys raising three daughters, cycling and running, traveling, and restoring with her husband their home built in 1898.
