Biography - Jeffrey S. Kingsbury


Jeff Kingsbury received his bachelor’s degree in biology from the State University of New York at Albany. He earned his doctoral degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He then completed an NIH extramural fellowship in preparation for a career in academia. Dr. Kingsbury currently teaches as a full-time Life Science faculty member. Prior experience includes three years at the University of Connecticut as full-time faculty, and ten years at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Currently, his primary teaching areas include anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and general biology. Professor Kingsbury has taught day and evening classes containing both traditional and non-traditional students. He spends several hours a week advising students, assisting them in course scheduling, career planning, and research projects. Dr. Kingsbury has been a leading advocate of online science education, and has developed techniques for teaching in the virtual environment. He has published on the topic in peer reviewed scientific literature, and presented original research on the effectiveness of computer based instruction in science courses. Dr. Kingsbury is a member of the American Physiological Society, and the American Association of Anatomists and has been an invited speaker at the prestigious Experimental Biology multi society annual meeting. He is the recipient of a NISOD Excellence in Teaching Award for 2007. He offers sixteen years of experience as an educator at the graduate and undergraduate level and has published numerous articles and contributed to several textbooks.
