Robert M. Young received a Bachelor’s degree in History and Political science from St. John’s University and a Master’s Degree in History from Brooklyn College. He earned his Ph.D. in Military History from the C.U.N.Y. Graduate Center. A veteran of 13 years in the Army (mostly in the National Guard), he is an avid student of armored tactics and strategy. His primary area of interest and study is the Second World War, particularly the Pacific Theatre of Operations. His doctoral dissertation covers the role of the army in the Pacific Theatre’s Southwest Area. He is currently completing articles on the role of the tank in the New Guinea Campaign and a biography of a tanker in Patton’s army.
