Professor Marino received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Anthropology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He currently serves as the Chief Archaeologist for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. He works at their Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. He was previously a Lead Archaeologist with the US Army Corps of Engineers in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to working for the Federal Government, he worked for the University of Missouri-Columbia as Manager of the Archaeological Survey of Missouri. He has also held consultant positions with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department.
Professor Marino has numerous referred publications and is also the author of a
variety of technical reports. Many of his more recent publications deal with
management of archaeological collections and include chapters in The Ethics
and Practice of Archaeological Collections Stewardship, Society for American Archaeology Publications Series 2004; and Ethical Issues in Archaeology, Altamira Press 2003. Earlier in his career he focused on human skeletal analyses in both forensic and archaeological contexts with publications in the Journal of Forensic Science and the American Journal of Physical Anthropology.
Professor Marino is a published poet, enjoys reading books that range from historical biographies to science fiction, and is an avid toy collector and costumer. He is married and has one daughter and one son.
