Biography - Novadean Watson-Stone


Novadean Watson-Stone received an Associate’s degree in Computer Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland University College. She earned a second Bachelor’s degree in Social-Science Education from the University of South Florida and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Louisiana Tech University. She was awarded her DBA in Information Systems from Argosy University; her dissertation focused on Information Security Awareness and Use.

Recently, Dr. Watson-Stone presented her research on the Implication of E-book Use in Education at the January 21,2011 Air Education and Training Command Symposium and "The Consequences of low on-line survey response rate-traditional and creative methods to improve them? at the 10th Annual Uniformed Service IR Forum, April 28-29, 2011. She co-published several articles to include RFID with Real Implications at the 2007 International Conference on Wireless Networks ,June, 2007; Artificial Intelligence in Information Security at the 2002 6th World Multiconference on Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics proceedings held in Orlando, Florida; the Evolution of Information Security at the 2001 Association for Computing Machinery Conference proceedings in Atlanta, Georgia; the Current and Future Data Models for Database Management Systems at the 2001 International Conference proceedings in Las Vegas, Nevada; and the Systems Implementation Success at the 2001 International proceedings, Las Vegas, Nevada. She is currently conducting further research on computer security and wireless technology.

Dr. Watson-Stone is currently the Program Director for the Graduate Information Technology Program at American Public University System (APUS), where she serves an aggressively growing department consisting of over 8,000 students and over 60 faculty members. In this leadership and management position, she works closely with the School’s Dean to effectively manage program activities across functions in the school (sharing faculty, etc) and the University (especially Admissions, Academic Services, Student Services, and IT) to create, implement, and manage systems to support effective online teaching and learning.

Additionally, Dr. Watson-Stone was the founder and general manager of Computer Care LLC., where she managed corporate requirements for three contractors, clients, and the daily operation of the business. She organized and distributed computer-related workload amongst three contractors within the Montgomery and Elmore County Areas; and she managed and tracked incoming computer concerns such as computer upgrades, networking, Web development, and training.

She previously served as an Education Counselor in Germany, an Assistant Education Director at the Incirlik Education Center in Turkey, a Curriculum Manger at the Community College of the Air Force, and the Assistant Director of the Information Technology Department at the Academic Instructor School. Formerly, she served as an Adjunct Professor at Alabama State University, Amridge University, and Trenholm State H. Councill Trenholm State Technical College.

In addition to working and teaching, Dr. Watson-Stone serves on several committees and advisory boards in the information technology industry; and she enjoys operating her own dollar and beauty supply store and managing her real estate business in several states.
