
P>Lieutenant Colonel Michael D. Sullivan received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the United States Military Academy in 1994 and his master’s degree from American Military University in 2002. He additionally holds a Masters of Military Arts and Science from the U.S. Command and General Staff College along with a Masters Degree in Security Studies from Kansas State University. A CGSC and SAMS graduate, he worked for the Joint Center for International Security Force Assistance and as a planner for 3d Infantry Division. LTC Sullivan recently served as the Squadron S3 with 5-7 Cavalry and the Brigade Operations Officer for 1-3 AAB which partnered with six Iraqi Security Force divisions responsible for all of Baghdad Province in 2010. He is currently serving as the 3rd Infantry Division Chief of Plans.
His active duty experience includes working as an observer/controller in Hohenfels, Germany, serving as a battalion adviser for the 6th Iraqi Army Battalion in Kirkush, Iraq, two company commands with 1st Infantry Division in Vilseck Germany and as an airborne infantry lieutenant with 3-505 Parachute Infantry Regiment, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. His military schooling includes Infantry Officers Basic Course, Armor Officers Advance Course, Combined Staff and Services School, Jungle Operations Training Course, Tank Commanders Certification Course, Command and General Staff College and the School of Advanced Military Studies. He has published numerous articles in Armor magazine, Military Review and the Rockland County Journal News. He is a 2002 Department of the Army Douglas A. MacArthur Leadership Award winner. LTC Sullivan is married and has three children.
LTC Sullivan has also served as a USO Military Heritage Tour Guide in Germany where he led tours to Bastogne, the Hurtgen Forest and Verdun.
