Kristi Houlton graduated cum laude from Macalester College (St. Paul, MN). While enrolled at Macalester, she spent her junior year studying literature in Edinburgh, Scotland. After earning her Master’s in the Teaching of English from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, she taught high school English in rural Indiana for many years and also taught composition classes to some Purdue international students and their spouses. She moved to the D.C. metro area in 2004 and taught at Loudoun County High School for about two years before taking some time off to be with her young family. In addition to living in Edinburgh for a year, Kristi has spent time in continental Europe, Northern Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia, and has visited 48 states. Besides traveling, she enjoys the outdoors and cycling.
