Biography - Shearin Christiansen

Shearin "Sherre" Christiansen

As an educator and life-long learner, my personal and professional mission is to help create an environment where all can learn, thrive and grow.

Earning my Masters of Science in Education with a specialization in Teaching and Learning from Capella University gave me a special understanding of the benefits and challenges of on-line learning. While on-line learning isn't for everyone, it was perfect for me! I loved the freedom of choosing the times I was in the course room, exploring topics that interested me, and developing quality relationships with my co-learners and professors.
I earned my Bachelor of Liberal Studies with a specialization in Psychology from the University of Mary Washington. In my youth, I studied technical theatre at the University of Memphis and applied those skills when designing and building our home on the banks of the South Fork of the Shenandoah River.

Prior to joining the APUS faculty, I taught college success courses at Lord Fairfax Community College and was the Administrator for Student Learning Services. Prior to assuming my responsibilities with Student Learning Services, I was the learning specialist for the Learning Assistance Center at Lord Fairfax Community College. I also teach GED prep for Northern Shenandoah Valley Adult Education.

Please join me in creating a rich and dynamic educational experience.

Best wishes,
Shearin "Sherre" Christiansen
