
Dr. Shawn Black is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Shawn earned his Ph.D. in Organization and Management from Capella University and his M.A. in Military Studies from American Military University. In addition, he is a graduate of Air Command and Staff College and the Air Force’s Mobility Weapons School. He twice earned Top Instructor honors as a teacher at the highly selective U.S. Air Force KC-135 Weapons Instructor Course. Shawn was a fully qualified KC-135 instructor and evaluator pilot with over 2,500 flight hours spanning thirty-five countries. Shawn grew up near Twin Falls, Idaho, before attending the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. There, he met his wife Kathy and went on to attend pilot training at Reese Air Force Base, Texas. After earning his wings, Shawn was stationed at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma. He has since been stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, and Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, while also serving in many operations around the world. Shawn has four boys and a girl, ages 12, 10, 7, and 2 and 7 months. He enjoys fishing, boating, and watching or coaching his kids’ sports, especially hockey. He also enjoys being an instructor and mentor, helping others learn new things they can apply in the real world. Shawn is a passionate speaker and also well-versed in the online education environment. He looks forward to sharing his knowledge with those seeking to better themselves through online learning.
