Kurt  Messick

Kurt Messick attended Indiana University, where I got a BA in Political Science and Religious Studies, with a minor in Mathematics. I then got a Jewish Studies Certificate. I studied in the graduate program at the University of London while also working in Parliament for Margaret Thatcher during the mid-1980s. I served as an election agent, campaign manager, office manager, and policy analyst. I returned to Bloomington to teach briefly and became an administrator at the local community college. I received a Master of Divinity degree at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, graduating Summa cum Laude, and served as the seminary's Director of Communications for two years while pursuing my degree; I also taught at the seminary for five years. I have completed a Master's degree in Political Science through the American Military University (with honors), am completing my Master’s degree in Space Studies, and am finishing a Doctorate in Theology and History through the South African Theological Seminary.

I currently teach History, Philosophy, Economics and Political Science at Ivy Tech Community College in Bloomington. I designed of the History of Technology course. I have also been the Director of Public Relations, Alumni Affairs and Foundation for the Bloomington campus.

For nine years I have served as the chaplain at Bell Trace Senior Living Community in Bloomington, Indiana where I conduct weekly services and Bible studies in addition to providing ministry of presence and pastoral care. I am also a volunteer chaplain at the local hospital. I work regularly with the local and state literacy programs, and have served on the local, regional and national boards of church and nonprofit organizations related to homelessness, hunger, poverty, social justice, and ministry issues.

I have published two books of poetry, as well as a number of journal, magazine and newspaper articles in the US and abroad.
