Undergraduate Transfer Credit

Up to 90 credit hours of undergraduate credit may be accepted toward a bachelor’s degree. Up to 45 credit hours of undergraduate credit may be accepted toward an associate’s degree. Transfer credit is accepted from the following sources:

• undergraduate institutions accredited by an agency recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
• CLEP, DANTES, and AP exams
• courses taken at military schools or civilian organizations which have been evaluated for credit recommendations by American Council on Education (ACE).  These must be documented on an official military transcript such as AARTS, SMARTS, CGI or CCAF.

Some students may have more than 90 credit hours of applicable credit from the above sources. In this case priority will be given to those credits from accredited undergraduate institutions. Please note that transfer credit must be applicable to the students declared degree program; therefore some previously completed courses may not transfer to APUS institutions. Information regarding transfer credit evaluation is available in the Student Handbook and on the Web site. All official transcripts (including military schools) must be received before credit can be evaluated.
