Windows Users: Microsoft Office 2007 Not Supported At This Time

Microsoft introduced a new file format in Office 2007 called Microsoft Open Office XML Format (.docx, .xclx and .pptx). This new format is not compatible with older versions of Microsoft Office for Windows without applying this patch first and previous versions of Microsoft Office for Apple Macintosh computers. The next major release of Microsoft Office (Office 2008) for Macintosh Computers will support this new file format, but it is not expected to ship to stores until the second half of 2007.

At this time, APUS does not directly support Office 2007 for Windows, because of this cross-platform compatibility issue with Macintosh computers. Until Office 2008 is released for Macintosh computers, please continue to use Office XP or Office 2003 for Windows so your work is cross-platform compatiable with all software versions by default.

Solution for Windows users who have already purchased Office 2007:
Windows users who have already purchased Office 2007, please remember to save your files in the earlier Office format (97-2003) manually. To do so, you will need to manually select “File Save As” option (cannot just simply click on Save button, which will still save as new XML format), and then select the file type and format as “Word/Excel/PowerPoint 97-2003 Document” (.doc, .xls, .ppt) format in the dialog box prompted.
