The student who graduates with a minor in Religion will be able to:

  • Describe and evaluate the scholarly methods used in the study of religion.
  • Identify the basic concepts that make up a religious world view (e.g., creation of the world, good and evil, salvation, suffering).
  • Identify and give examples of the universal forms of religious expression (e.g., sacred places, symbols, ethics, rituals).
  • Analyze the historical development, and interaction among, the major world religions.
  • Identify and evaluate the key beliefs and characteristics of each of the current major world religions.
  • Determine and appraise the various expressions of religious life (e.g., social, political) that are evident in different societies over time.
